HILLSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH HISTORY
Hillside Baptist Church was born out of a body of believers who
called themselves Bethany Church.  Bethany Church consisted of
members from various denominations, including Methodists, Church
of Christ, Baptist, and so on.  This community church was a part of
the Methodist Conference, and various ministers served as pastor.
After a while, the Baptists decided to organize their own church.
Several meetings were held, and Buck Gee, who would later become
song director, donated some land.  A building was purchased in Fort
Worth for $500 and moved to the donated site.  The membership
submitted several names for the church, and Mrs. Jewel Eaves’
suggestion, “Hillside Baptist” was chosen.  Hillside Baptist Church
was formally constituted as a church on Sunday, April 7, 1963.
There were 59 Charter members. The first pastor of Hillside Baptist
Church was Brother Wallace Stringer, who currently lives in Joshua,
Texas with his wife Flois.  In the early 1980’s, a new sanctuary and
educational building were built, and those facilities are still being
used today.  Brother Bob Ray, III is currently serving as pastor.  The
church meets for Sunday morning Bible Study at 9:45 a.m. and a
praise and worship service takes place at 11:00 a.m.  Sunday
evenings at 6:00 p.m., a discussion-style Bible study is held.
Tuesday morning Bible study takes place at 10:30 a.m., and the
church meets for prayer at 7:30 on Wednesday nights.  Every other
Friday night from 7:30-10:30 p.m., the Ark is open, offering games,
free food, and Bible study for young people.  Hillside Baptist Church
is a church that preaches and teaches the Bible, and we believe in
serving each other as our Lord Jesus served us.  We are seeking to
serve the Lord and meet the needs of those in our community with
love and compassion.
